Economic capability matters for quality of life. This article seek to identify the mediating effect of mental health factor(depression and self-esteem) in the relationship between economic capability(income and asset) and life satisfaction in South Korea. We used 7th panel data sets (2011) from the Korea Welfare Panel Survey (KoWEPS), which were collected from a nationally representative sample. Main research questions are as follows: (1) The relationship between economic capability and life satisfaction among disabled and non-disabled people. (2) The mediation effect of mental health factor on the relationship between economic capability and quality of life in disabled and non-disabled people. Through this process, the major findings are as follows. First, we found that economic capability of disabled or non-disabled people significantly influenced their quality of life. Second, the findings confirmed that how economic capability influences quality of life through mental factor as a mediator. Results suggest that effective intervention strengthening mental health among people should be introduced. Futhermore, we proposed that government initiate the asset accumulation program for disabled and non-disabled people.
